Now that your invitations and announcements are taken care of, it is time to start thinking about the finer points of your party. If you have already ordered and sent out your invitations and announcements (which to recap should be sent out at the least 2 months prior to your graduation) then you should already have your venue planned. At this point it is a good idea to call them and confirm everything – what they provide for you, what you need to bring, when you can get in to start decorating, when you have to be cleaned up and out by, etc. You will need to know this before you can plan anything else.

Next, you will need to decide what your food situation will be. Do you want to have a buffet or dinner? Potluck or catered? Is there a particular kind of food you would like to have? If you are wanting to hire a caterer to take care of this be sure to call them early and make sure they provide what you want at your party. If you specifically want a chocolate fountain be sure to ask for it or see if they can get one from somewhere else (like Dan D Party Corner 😉 ).

If you are wanting your family to make the food you will have to make sure everyone know what they will be making in enough time to plan for it. Now would be a good time to do this rather than waiting for the week before. Take into account anything you will be needing to rent if you plan on catering your party yourself including food warmers, beverage dispensers, and heating trays. You will want to reserve these things early to make sure you will get them and have a place to store your food!

Another popular option is ordering in food from a pizza place or other restaurant to not necessarily cater but provide the food. Usually you can have your food delivered or have a family member pick it up for you. Just be sure to call ahead fairly early to confirm availability and secure a reservation with them.

Other things that need to be planned now include rentals, DJ’s and interactive activities. For photo booths and DJ’s call early to reserve so you are sure to have them at your party. Will you have enough chairs, tables, or other party necessities? Call ahead to reserve any rentals you may need by at least a month to choose from the best selection.
